This relaxing half-day tour is the best way to experience the culture, history and domestic products of the southernmost region in Croatia. After visiting Dubrovnik´s natural highlights and best photo-points like spring of river Ombla, Franjo Tuđman bridge and fort Imperial on Mt. Srđ, we will continue south along the coastline while your guide explains the history of our city and the importance of our next stopping point – the small town of Cavtat and ruins of ancient Epidaurum.
Spend some time exploring Cavtat before we drive further south into the fertile Konavle valley and see why it has traditionally been the number one food producing region for southern Croatia. We will make a stop at Konavoski Dvori to see old mills that were turning raw produce into exportable goods for over 500 years. We will visit the source of Konavle´s natural irrigation system, the River Ljuta, which is Croatian for “Angry”. We will look up at the tallest peak in southern Croatia, Sniježnica, which comes from the Croatian word for “snow”. We will even see a medieval watchtower from 1391 named “Sokol” after the Croatian word for “hawk”.
Each of these natural and man-made landmarks were important in writing the history of Konavle, but they are equally important in keeping cultural traditions alive. For the end of tour we will visit small fishing village Molunat with beautiful sandy beach where you can take a swim. Because this is a completely private tour, we are on your schedule. Set your own pace for the day, starting with pick-up at your hotel/cruise ship, and your guide will help you choose a restaurant to best fit the appetite and budget of your group.
Sokol Tower, a medieval fort set at the foot of stone cliffs, offers a magnificent view over Konavle valley and Dubrovnik´s inland.
BabyBearNewYork: „We booked this tour via Viator and were very happy with the experience. Our driver-guide was Mario and he spoke good English and did a nice job driving us all around the Konavle countryside and finally stopping at a beach restaurant for lunch. For us, it was a good way to see part of the countryside around Dubrovnik that we normally wouldn´t get to see, and we liked having the flexibility of a private tour.“ Read more
Escape the bustle of the city and enjoy the peacefulness only countryside can offer.
Robbo61: „Great tour given by Branko with amazing views over Dubrovnik and nice drive through the countryside and to Cavtat.
Some minor confusion as to whether we had booked the walking tour through the old town (which we had) but this was resolved by the time we had driven back, where Ivona was waiting to give us a lovely commentary of the old town.
Overall a very good tour at a much more reasonable price than similar tours offered by other companies. People on our cruise ship did very similar tours with other companies and paid over double the price.
Highly recommend Ivo and his team.“ Read more
