Minčeta Fortress

One of 5 fortresses surrounding Dubrovnik old town and its highest point, Minceta Tower offers a spectacular view over Old Town roofs. Mt. Lovrijenac Fortress

Back in the 11th century, the Venetians wanted to build a fort where Fort Lovrijenac currently is. If they had succeeded, they would have kept Dubrovnik under their power, but the people of Dubrovnik were clever enough to anticipate their intentions and built it before they arrived at the City.

Tour Details


  • Before you book this tour:

    • Tour will start from central point – Brsalje square with a brief introduction, showing you sights outside Dubrovnik walls; fortresses Minčeta, Bokar and Lovrijenac before entering in town through Pile gate.
    • After entering Dubrovnik old town you will be introduced with the way of living in Republica Ragusa, see Great Onofrio’s fountain which was main source of drinkable water till beginning of 20th century, learn how Franciscans developed medicine in the oldest functioning pharmacy in Franciscan monastery and walk along side streets towards Dubrovnik Cathedral. Your guide will even show you some Game of Thrones, Robin Hood and Star Wars filming locations.
    • In Old town port you will see how modern fleet took over primacy from traditional but still sailing wooden made galley.
    • The walk will finish on Luza square where you will learn of Rector’s palace, Sponsa palace and St. Blaise church. From here you can continue along the main street Stradun on your own.
    • For the more adventurous guests who are interested in a guided City Walls tour, ask your guide or booking agent about a private tour.
